Is my photo uploaded to a server?

The core checks (head angle, eyes, expression, sharpness) run entirely on-device and never leave your browser. Four additional checks (headwear, eyewear, background, and expression review) are optional and, only if you agree, send the photo to Google's Gemini API for that one check; it is not stored and is discarded right after.

Does a pass guarantee my photo will be accepted?

No. This free check covers a limited set of automated criteria only — not print quality, the final file you submit, or the reviewing officer's decision. For a guaranteed, verified photo, use Passport Photo Online's paid service.

What does this checker actually look at?

On-device, it checks head angle, eyes open, neutral expression, and photo sharpness using face-landmark detection, plus basic file checks like format and resolution. Framing, lighting, and colour aren't scored yet and show as not checked. Headwear, eyewear, and background can optionally be checked too, with your consent, using Google's Gemini API.

What happens if my photo fails?

You'll see exactly which checks it failed and why, so you know what to fix. You can retake the photo and check again for free, as many times as you like.
